Melanie McClintock (2021)

Melanie is an adjunct professor in the MFA Color and Material Design Department at the College for Creative Studies. With a background in fashion design, textiles, and natural pigments, Melanie's research is inspired by color and materials that are considered waste to explore the concepts of time, worthiness, and sense of place.

Erica Schumacker (2021)

Erica is the Teaching Assistant for CMD Materials Lab. She received her BS in Biology at the University of Louisiana. She currently lives in Detroit, works as a chemical lab technician testing materials, metals, textiles and finish performance, and is a part-time graduate student at the College for Creative Studies pursuing an MFA in Color, Material, and Finish Design. She enjoys research, problem solving for the future, biomaterials, and sustainability.

Sally Erickson Wilson (2021)

Sally is the Chair of Color and Materials Design department in the Graduate Program at the College of Creative Studies. After receiving her master’s degree in Textile Design from the Royal College of Art, Sally began an extensive career in Color, Materials and Finish Design [CMF] at Peugeot S.A. in Paris, Ford’s Ghia studio in Italy, and returned to Ford, the UK and Germany, as Chief Designer. Her research interests lie in Color Meaning, Color Behavior, Color Relationships, Materials Innovation, Natural Textile Processes, Sustainability, Textile Design and Techniques.

Matthew Strong (2020)

Matthew is an adjunct professor in the MFA Color and Material Design Department at the College for Creative Studies as well as a architectural designer at Stantec. With a background in engineering, traditional craft, and architecture, Matthew's interests lie at the intersection of digital fabrication and craft with an emphasis on design thinking, narrative, and materiality.
